Think Different

It’s been a few weeks since Steve Jobs passed, and the swirl of attention has started to fade just a bit, which to me means that it’s the perfect time…

  • Hello Alan! I'm emailing as I believe you're a tea fan and wanted to let you know about Tea With Strangers. Tea With Strangers is born of a simple idea: to encourage conversations between strangers and build a sense a community that transcends traditional social boundaries. We believe that everyone is interesting and that everyone has something of value of share. Tea With Strangers is an initiative that is spreading across the world (25 cities and counting!) and came to London in June of last year. We have ten hosts currently living in London (although we're growing all the time!) who facilitate conversations between five strangers over two hours in various locations across the city...all over tea. To date we have connected over 120 strangers and had over 100 hours of conversation. You can find out more about us here: www.teawithstrangers.com and http://www.forbes.com/sites/jonyoushaei/2015/05/13/how-to-meet-amazing-people-without-sleazy-networking-insights-from-6220-conversations/#64ba486a3823. You can also learn more about the man who started this movement, Ankit Shah, at: http://tedxteen.com/speakers-performers/tedxteen-2014-london/237-ankit-shah. We were also in Time Out in their feature on tea earlier this year (Feb). We believe your viewers would be interested in what we do at Tea With Strangers and would love for you to feature us. If you'd like to chat about this more, or even meet up for a cup of tea, please do get back to me. Regards Jen Jennie Robertson: on Contact

  • Love this article! I notice that I have a tendency to forget about my body when I get lost in "head work" but I feel so much better if I take care of myself. The video is especially awesome--I wish I could have someone remind me to push in my chair :) To your brilliance! The Classy Geek will help you, in a nutshell, get your shit together, and do the geek’s way. I’m the alternative to the spit-sucking, linux distro debating, Microsoft hating, “I have a LAMP server in my basement along with my other 10 computers” geek. You know those guys – and you don’t want to be those guys. You want to look good in a dress shirt regardless of your weight or build, you want to be confident around people regardless of the topic of conversation. You want to charm the skirt off of your date (or the pants, I’m looking at you geek ladies) but you want to do it without resorting to your depth of routing protocols (I mean, we all know BGP, right?). I’m here to show you that a little knowledge can go a long way. You get to learn from my mistakes, and maybe pick up a few interests at the same time. I’m not going to turn you into a fratboy – the geek is strong in me too, and I’m not going to suggest you start watching football or shopping at American Eagle. After all, if you know how to write shell scripts and you know what the two Ps in LAMP actually stand for, choosing a good scotch or pairing a nice wine with a home cooked meal should be a snap for you. The geeks have inherited the earth, I’m going to show you what to do with it now that it’s there for the taking. All without betraying yourself.
